Psychology Support Through the NDIS

How NDIS-funded psychology support is designed to work for you.

Non-Clinical, Disability-Related Support

The NDIS funds psychology support for non-clinical, disability-related needs, with a focus on improving a participant's functional capacity and independence.

Building Capacity & Daily Living Skills

NDIS psychology services are designed to support participants to build capacity, strengthen daily living skills and work towards the goals outlined in their NDIS plan.

Aligned to Your NDIS Goals

When choosing psychology services, it's important that the support aligns with your NDIS goals and actively contributes to building your capacity and skills for daily living.

Building Skills for Daily Living

Psychology support can help participants develop practical skills and strategies that can be applied across different areas of life. Depending on your individual needs and NDIS goals, this may include:

01Developing emotional regulation skills and coping strategies
02Strengthening social and communication skills
03Developing problem-solving skills for everyday situations
04Building skills to navigate life transitions, such as starting school or entering the workforce
05Managing daily stress related to disability
06Strengthening relationships and social connections
07Increasing participation and engagement in the community
08Building greater capacity and independence in daily living

Our psychologists use personalised, evidence-based strategies and supports, working alongside you to build on your strengths and develop skills that are relevant to your life.

Supporting Your NDIS Goals

Your NDIS goals are central to the support we provide. Our psychologists take the time to understand what you want to work towards and develop supports that are practical, purposeful and connected to your daily life.

This may involve developing life skills, addressing disability-related challenges, supporting important life transitions or building capacity in areas that help you participate more independently at home, work, school or in the community.

Understanding Psychology Funding in Your NDIS Plan

Psychology support may be funded through the Capacity Building component of an NDIS plan, commonly under Improved Daily Living or Improved Relationships, depending on the participant's plan, goals and support needs.

Our team can help you understand the information Brain Buddy requires to access psychology supports and discuss how our services may align with your NDIS goals and available funding.

PLEASE NOTE

NDIS funding arrangements and claiming requirements can vary and may change. Participants should confirm their available funding and eligibility with their Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, NDIA contact or Brain Buddy intake team before commencing services.

Multicultural Support That Understands You

Our diverse team brings together different cultural backgrounds, languages and professional experiences. Alongside English, psychology support is available in Mandarin, Cantonese and German, helping us provide culturally responsive support where participants feel heard, respected and understood.

Common Questions

Do I need an NDIS plan to access psychology?

+

No. Our psychology services are available to NDIS participants who are self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed (where appropriate funding is available). If you're unsure about your funding, our team is happy to help you understand your options.

How long are appointments?

+

All NDIS appointments are 60 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged where needed and will be discussed with you beforehand to ensure the appointment suits your individual support needs.

Do you offer Telehealth?

+

Yes. We offer secure Telehealth appointments for many of our services, giving you the flexibility to access support from the comfort of your home when appropriate.

Can family members be involved in therapy?

+

Absolutely. With your consent, we encourage family members, carers and other important supports to be involved where appropriate. Working together can help create more consistent strategies and positive outcomes both during and outside of therapy sessions.

Wherever you are in your journey, we're here to support you.
